Douglas Dr To Close Over Bassett Creek Jan 3
December 30, 2016
Starting Tuesday, Jan 3, Douglas Dr (County Rd 102) will close to through traffic between Duluth St (County Rd 66) and Golden Valley Rd for winter construction activities.
The detour for through traffic follows Olson Memorial Hwy (Hwy 55), Hway 100, and Duluth St.
You will still be able to access your home, favorite businesses, and other destinations within the construction zone; however, Douglas Dr will be impassable at the Basset Creek crossing between Knoll St and Phoenix St. You will need to use Douglas Dr either from the north or the south, depending on your destination.
The winter stage of construction will include removing and reconstructing the old box culvert (passage for water beneath the roadway) at Basset Creek and making improvements to the Honeywell pond. Winter is the ideal time for this work because there is less risk of unsafe conditions caused by rain and changing water levels and less likelihood of major delays.
Once winter construction is complete, crews will begin on the next stage of road reconstruction work between Duluth St and the Basset Creek crossing. This stage of work will also include eastbound lanes of Duluth St between Douglas Dr and Adair Ave N. The road closure and detour will remain the same, with the exception of both eastbound and westbound traffic on Duluth St being diverted to the westbound (north) side of the road. You can view an outline of the 2017 staging plan and construction schedule on the project website under “construction timeline.”
