Parks And Rec Supervisor Receives MN Recreation and Parks Association Award
February 9, 2017
Golden Valley Parks and Recreation Supervisor John Stutzman received the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association President’s Award last month for outstanding leadership and service to the MRPA and the field of parks and recreation.
The award is given annually to members of the MRPA as determined by the president of the association.
Stutzman received particular recognition for initiating and helping to develop the association’s Young Professional and Student Network, designed to inspire and engage members of the recreation profession under age 35 to become active members in the field, grow and maintain their professional network, and discover the benefits of professional development.
“I was surprised and flattered to receive the award,” Stutzman says. “This recognition was above and beyond my expectations.”
For those looking to start a professional career in parks and recreation, the City of Golden Valley offers seasonal employment every year.
