City Ice Rink Openings Delayed Until Dec 27

City skating rinks and warming houses are now scheduled to open Dec 27, weather permitting. Conditions have not been optimal for preparing the rinks to open earlier.

“Although some rinks are better than others, we would like to postpone shelter openings until next week in order to build a good base.” says Al Lundstrom, park maintenance supervisor. “Some of the rinks have been used daily already, which is good. However, we will be putting a lot more water down as we get to colder temps, and they will not completely freeze during the daytime hours. Therefore, it does not work to have the shelters open.”

Rink and warming house locations and hours are available on the City website.
