Multiple Opportunities Available For Golden Valley Residents To Learn How To Become Firefighters

The Golden Valley Firefighter Recruitment Expo on June 14 is an opportunity for residents to talk with current firefighters and learn more about becoming a paid on-call firefighter, and the Women’s Fire Service Expo, put on by the North Star Women’s Firefighter Association (NSWFA), on June 23 is a great event for women to network with current, experienced women in the fire service throughout the metro area.

Golden Valley Fire Recruitment Expo

Attendees will be able to try on gear, practice some firefighting skills, watch a live burn, participate in a Jaws of Life demo, and talk with firefighters about how they overcame their doubts to make firefighting work in their lives. The expo will take place June 14, 6-10 pm, at Fire Station 1.

This event is open to any Golden Valley resident who is at least 18 years of age. You must also live or work within six minutes of a Golden Valley fire station to be a Golden Valley firefighter.

NSWFA Women’s Fire Service Expo

At this event, women will be able to gear up for a full day to experience vehicle fires, extrication forcible entry, physical agility course, ladders, and medical calls. This hands-on expo is designed for attendees to have fun in a safe and informative manner. The expo will take place June 23 at 19000 Proctor Road NW, Elk River, MN 55330.

This expo is open to any female who is at least 18 years of age and is interested in the fire service.
