Lime To Deploy First Bikes In Golden Valley Fri, July 20
July 19, 2018
Lime is bringing its first shipment of dockless bikes to Golden Valley Fri, July 20. Look for them at City Hall, Brookview, Brookview Park, and other selected spots–the bright lime green bicycles are hard to miss!
Lime is similar to other bicycle share programs operating in Minneapolis and St Paul but with one major difference—no docking stations. They can be parked anywhere, as long as it’s a legal parking location for a bike. Here’s how it works:
- Download the Lime app.
- Using GPS tracking, the app will tell you where the nearest available bike is.
- When you find the bike, you scan its barcode and use the app’s payment system to unlock the bike. You can then ride it wherever you want to go.
- When you park the bike and end your rental session, you need to lock the bike, and it can only be used again when another Lime customer chooses to rent it.
Unlocking a bike for use will cost $1. Customers would then be charged $1 for every 30 minutes with the bike ($1 for every 10 minutes for electric bikes), until the rental session ends.
Lime is the leading dockless bike share provider in the US. It is present in about 60 markets nationally, but this will be the first time the service comes to Minnesota.
The City will officially welcome Lime to town with an unlocking ceremony Mon, July 23, 7 pm, at the Brookview Park Large Pavilion. All are welcome to attend, then stay to enjoy music by the Pan-Handlers Steel Drum Band, part of the City’s weekly summer Concerts In The Park series.
