City Of Golden Valley Now Accepting Applications For Winter And Spring Art Displays

The City is now accepting artist applications for rotating art displays at Brookview and City Hall for winter and spring. The deadline to apply is Sept 28, 2018. Artists will be notified by Oct 31, 2018 if their artwork is chosen.

“Fresh Bloom” by Bev Fishman, City Hall

Artwork is displayed in both buildings in rotating terms (generally three months each), with the winter rotation running from Jan 3, 2019 to April 2, 2019 and the spring rotation running from April 4, 2019 to June 4, 2019. Each rotation includes the opportunity to display both two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces.

To select the artwork, the City sends Requests For Art (RFA) to the art community and art facilitator groups twice a year. Art is selected in advance for each term of the next year.

Artists must be local, the artwork itself must not be offensive or condescending to any race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, and the artwork must not be used to promote or oppose any political views (see full list of criteria).

The City’s rotational art project is part of its commitment to promoting and integrating arts, culture, and community aesthetic throughout Golden Valley.

Applications can be found here or on the City’s Rotational Art web page.
