City Recognized For Community Stormwater Management
The City of Golden Valley was recently recognized for Excellence in Community Stormwater Management from the Minnesota Blue Star Award Program for its outstanding efforts in preserving Minnesota’s water resources and protecting local water quality from urban runoff pollution.
While many cities and townships work hard to keep Minnesota’s water clean by reducing urban runoff, there are only a few communities that exceed state standards, and Golden Valley is proud to be one of them.
The Blue Star Award is the state’s only award for communities that exceed minimum standards and make extra efforts to protect their water resources. The program rates communities based on indicators such as city development codes, site-design guidelines, and post-construction stormwater management standards. Any community that receives a high enough score automatically earns the Blue Star Award for Excellence in Community Stormwater Management.
