Parks And Rec Adds New Youth Dance Classes
The Golden Valley Parks and Recreation Department has a new partnership with Young Dance, a group that has been “Transforming Lives Through Movement” since 1987. Young Dance teaches kids to build body and spirit through the creative art of dance and is bringing three new youth dance classes to Golden Valley.
Dance Together will introduce children to group learning environments while using movement games, stories, and songs to develop strong bonds with their caregivers and cooperatively work with others in the class. Ages 1-4. Register here.
Creative Movement offers a space for exploration, improvisation, and expression through movement. Children will work to develop motor skills, coordination, rhythm, teamwork, and listening skills. Songs and games are used to develop an understanding of moving their body and facilitate learning movement patterns fundamental to human development. Ages 4-7. Register here.
Modern Dance will develop teamwork, listening, problem solving, perception and evaluation skills through group activities. Class time will be spent improvising and developing personal choreography, expanding creativity, and further connecting the mind and body. Ages 7-10. Register here.
All classes are held on Saturdays at Brookview starting Sept 22. Registration for all classes ends Sept 18.
