Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony To Be Held Oct 16, 6 pm

After months of planning by City staff and fundraising by Golden Valley resident and Hopkins High School student Eve Clarkson, the Peace Pole has been installed on City Hall campus adjacent to the water tower parking lot. A dedication ceremony is scheduled for Tue, Oct 16, 6 pm, at the Peace Pole.

peace poleThe 8-foot tall Peace Pole features the peace declaration in eight languages, two on each of the pole’s four sides.

Dedication Ceremony

The  ceremony will be held before the City Council meeting Oct 16, 6 pm. It will include a short statement by Mayor Shep Harris, recognition of Peace Pole organizer and donor Eve Clarkson, and a peace message from Global Golden Valley. The ceremony will conclude with everyone in attendance reciting the message “May Peace Prevail On Earth.”

The ceremony will take place in the green space between the water tower parking lot and the Winnetka Ave sidewalk and is open to the public. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the City Council Chambers.
