Employees At Local Business Hailed As Heroes Thanks To Hands Only CPR/AED Training

An employee at a Golden Valley business went into sudden cardiac arrest Wed, Oct 31 and was resuscitated by coworkers, performing CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), until Golden Valley Police and Fire arrived followed by North Memorial Paramedics. Many employees at this local business had taken the Hands Only CPR/AED Training course offered by the Golden Valley Fire Department (GVFD), and luckily the employee in question is alive and doing well today.

According to Battalion Chief Steve Baker, the business reached out to the GVFD earlier this year to train its employees in CPR and AED use. The GVFD even assisted the business in purchasing multiple AEDs. Fortunately, those AEDs and the training of several employees were put to good use when it mattered most.

“This is a win for the employee, for Golden Valley, and a win for our Heart Safe Community,” said Baker.

For privacy purposes, the Golden Valley Fire and Police Departments have advised the City to not release the names of those involved nor the name of the business.
