Deadline Approaching For Martin Luther King Literary Contest

The Golden Valley Human Rights Commission (HRC) is honoring the birthday and legacy of Martin Luther King with the second annual Dr Martin Luther King Jr Literary Contest.

This year’s theme is “Taking A Stand,” and students, grades 7-12, are asked to build on Dr King’s passion and leadership and answer one of the following questions:

  1. How does taking a stand at times of challenge and controversy serve the broader community?
  2. Would you participate in a march, sit-in, or another form of political protest? Why or why not?

Entries may be submitted as essays, songs, or poetry of 900 words or less on 8-1/2″ x 11″ paper, double spaced. Audio or video entries can be submitted through YouTube or other multi-media platforms accompanied by a transcribed version.
