Glenwood Ave Overlay Project Open House Will Be Dec 5

An open house is scheduled at City Hall Dec 5, 6 pm-8 pm, to discuss Hennepin County’s plans for paving Glenwood Ave between Hwy 100 and Thomas Ave in Minneapolis.

Scheduled for 2020, this overlay project will also consider improvements to pedestrian walkways and crossings. Residents will have the opportunity share thoughts and ask questions at the open house.

For more information, visit the Hennepin County website. For questions contact Hennepin County Transportation Engineer Bob Byers at 612-596-0354 or Golden Valley City Engineer Jeff Oliver at 763-593-8034.

Meadowbrook Turn Lane Improvement Project

Along with the Glenwood Ave overlay project, City staff will also discuss a proposed improvement project to traffic lanes near Meadowbrook Elementary.

Earlier this year, a Planned Unit Development Amendment was approved for Meadowbrook to add classrooms to the northern portion of the site and as a condition of the approval, the school was to explore options to improve traffic during pick up and drop off hours. City staff worked with the school to develop a plan for additional turn lanes on Glenwood Ave and Turners Crossroad to alleviate congestion, with construction expected to start summer 2019.

Residents and community members are encouraged to attend the open house Dec 5, 6-8 pm, at City Hall to ask questions and provide input on the project design.

For more information, contact the City of Golden Valley Engineering Department at 763-593-8030.
