Wednesday, May 15 Is National Peace Officer Memorial Day
By proclamation of the President of the United States, May 15, 2019 is Peace Officer Memorial Day. The day will be used to express the unending gratitude to law enforcement officers in our community and country.
Police officers selflessly confront danger to protect our communities, and the City of Golden Valley honors those who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty across the country. We are especially mindful of the tremendous sacrifices made by the 106 heroes who laid down their lives in 2018 while protecting their communities.
If you want to show support, the President asks Americans to display an American flag at half-mast May 15.
Golden Valley residents can also show support by thanking a police officer or public safety staff member with a Citizen’s Employee Commendation or by making a donation to the Golden Valley Crime Prevention Fund.
