Sumter Ave S To Close June 5 For Work On CenterPoint’s Beltline Project

Sumter Ave S from Wayzata Blvd to Ewald Terrace will be closed to through traffic Wed, June 5 through the end of June as part of CenterPoint Energy’s 2019 Belt Line Project.

Although parking will be obstructed on both sides of Sumter Ave S, residents can access their driveways. Laurel Ave will not be affected during this time–eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained.

The Belt Line Project is replacing an existing natural gas pipeline in Golden Valley and St Louis Park. In Golden Valley, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Minnesota Limited, will work in the area of (see map):

  • Winnetka Ave S
  • Western Ave
  • Ewald Terrace
  • Sumter Ave
  • Wayzata Blvd
  • Pennsylvania Ave S

Lane restrictions will be anticipated in areas where active construction is occurring and are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe. If any closures are necessary, they will be minimized. Local access will be maintained.

This project is a continuation of CenterPoint Energy’s Belt Line project in Minnesota, which began in 2012 and will continue until approximately 2022. The Belt Line system is a series of natural gas distribution mains along routes from Brooklyn Center to Bloomington and from Golden Valley to Minneapolis.
