2019 Golden Valley Reads Selection Is “Never Coming Back”

This year’s selection for the fourth annual Golden Valley Reads program is “Never Coming Back,” by Minnesota author Alison McGhee.

“Never Coming Back” focuses on Clara Winter, a successful writer who has been summoned home, a place she hasn’t been in 10 years, by her ailing mother. But just as her mother’s memory is declining, Clara’s questions are building. Why was her mother so insistent that Clara leave all those years ago? Just what secrets was she hiding?

Golden Valley Reads, a joint program between the City and the Golden Valley Library, works like a community-wide book club. Read the book, discuss it with friends and neighbors, and consider attending some of the upcoming Golden Valley Reads Events.

The book can now be found at the Golden Valley Library or at other Hennepin County Libraries. For more information, visit the Golden Valley Reads page on the City website.
