Brookview’s lawn bowling green has received the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) Award of Excellence. The award will be presented to the Golden Valley Parks and Recreation Department at the Aug 7 Golden Valley City Council meeting.
The City of Minneapolis is performing catch basin repair near the eastern border of Golden Valley that requires a full closure of Theodore Wirth Pkwy beginning Aug 1. The road is expected to reopen by Aug 5.
After a fun water week, the Playground Adventure Van has even more in store for the upcoming week. Mon, July 29–Fri, Aug 2, the van will be bringing science equipment to five Golden Valley parks for some really cool science experiments!
This year’s Golden Valley Firefighter Recruitment Expo is Aug 8, 6:30 pm, at Fire Station One. The Expo is a great opportunity for residents to talk with current firefighters and try out a few different firefighting skills.
Distracted driving contributes to nearly one-fifth of all auto accidents in Minnesota. The goal of the statewide Hands-Free Law, which takes effect Aug 1, is to force drivers to put down their device while driving in hopes of reducing distracted driving related accidents.
Weather permitting, work on the guardrails on Noble Ave (from Culver Rd north to the fire hydrant) is scheduled to begin the week of July 29. The road will remain open to traffic, but delays may occur during work hours.
The Ballfield Improvement Project will begin next week at Wesley Park and Lions Park. Work will also be conducted on the Schaper Park ballfields but will not begin until league play concludes in October.
