Minnesota’s Severe Weather Awareness Week Is This Week

Minnesota’s Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 13-17 and will include multiple state-wide tornado drills April 16.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety (MNDPS) along with the Golden Valley Fire Department (GVFD) want to ensure residents are educated and prepared when the worst happens. Residents should take advantage of this week to review personal and family emergency procedures.

Each day of the week corresponds to a different weather safety topic:

  • Monday – Alerts and Warnings
  • Tuesday – Lightning and Hail
  • Wednesday – Floods
  • Thursday – Tornadoes
  • Friday – Extreme Heat
