Absentee Voting By Mail Encouraged For 2020 Elections

To maintain social distancing, state, county, and local election officials encourage everyone to vote absentee by mail for the Aug 11 primary election and the Nov 3 general election.

Minnesotans can now request an absentee mail ballot for both elections. Absentee voting by mail begins June 26 for the primary election and voters do not need a specified reason to receive and cast an absentee ballot. Request your ballot online or by calling the Golden Valley City Clerk at 763-593-8012.

Election Day Voting

The City is working to develop procedures for in-person voting on both election days following Center For Disease Control and Prevention guidelines but strongly encourages voters to use the absentee mail-in option for the sake of public safety. Updates will be published on the City website and in the July/August CityNews.

Residents will need to register if they have never voted and will need to re-register if their name has changed, they have a different address, or they have not voted in four years. Learn more at mnvotes.org.
