Donate Your Time Or Your Goods To PRISM

After a year of hardships for many, Golden Valley residents may be looking for ways to give back. PRISM, a local organization that provides those in need with food, financial assistance, and other services, currently needs volunteers and donations of food and necessities.

Fresh Produce Distribution

Every year beginning in June, Second Harvest Heartland provides PRISM with fresh produce to distribute to community members. PRISM needs volunteers to conduct intake for participants, sort through produce to ensure quality, and place food in vehicles on a drive-in basis.  Volunteers are needed from 9:30 am–12:30 pm June 15, July 20, Aug 3, Aug 17, Sept 7, Sept 21, and Oct 5.

Shop For Change

Shop for Change is a thrift store featuring high-quality, uniquely affordable items for the entire family, including clothing and shoes of all sizes, accessories, and small housewares like glasses, dishes, frames, home décor, craft supplies, and seasonal items. Volunteers are needed for cashiering, maintaining displays, keeping the shop stocked, assisting customers, reviewing and sorting clothing, preparing items for sale, and more.

Golden Valley Pride Food & Necessities Drive for PRISM

Due to COVID-19, the Golden Valley Pride Festival will look different in 2021. Rather than holding an in-person event, the Golden Valley Pride team instead will host a donation drive for PRISM June 12, 12–4 pm, in the parking lot on the west side of Brookview Park (follow signage at the park). Golden Valley Pride invites community members to drop of donations in a drive-through, bike-up, or walk-up fashion.

Items needed include:

  • hygiene products
  • cleaning supplies
  • snack items
  • beverages
  • older kids’ clothing
  • children’s shoes
