At its June 16 regular meeting, the Golden Valley City Council adopted the City’s COVID-19 Operations Recovery and Readiness (CORR) Plan. Following the COVID-19 preparedness protocols required by the State of Minnesota, the City uses a phased approach to reopening City facilities.

The Motor Vehicle Licensing Department (DMV) at Golden Valley City Hall will reopen June 29 by appointment only. Before making an appointment and coming into City Hall, customers are encouraged to review the DMV’s new temporary COVID-19 policies.

The Motor Vehicle Licensing Department (DMV) at Golden Valley City Hall will reopen for full service June 29. Customers must make an appointment on the City of Golden Valley website and will be asked to practice social distancing and other health and safety measures while at City Hall. Before scheduling an appointment, customers are encouraged to review the DMV’s temporary COVID-19 guidelines.

The State of Minnesota has allowed state DMV offices to offer limited service while the state is under the Governor’s Stay At Home order. Starting April 6, the Golden Valley DMV will process tab renewals through the Utility Drop Box located outside the City Hall main doors.

As a result of Governor Walz’s executive order directing Minnesotans to stay at home and limit movements outside of their home beyond essential needs, the Golden Valley DMV and all other state DMVs will be closed through April 10.

Limited driver’s license services will not be available at Golden Valley’s Department of Motor Vehicles from noon Sept 27 through Sept 28, but all other services will be available. The Golden Valley DMV’s limited driver’s license services include duplicate licenses only (change of address or replacement of lost or stolen licenses).

From Thurs, July 20, through Mon, July 24, all Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) locations will be closed or providing reduced services. Golden Valley’s DMV in City Hall will provide reduced services all three days.

Before you head out on that ATV or try to snag that 8-point buck, make sure you have the proper license. Golden Valley’s Department of Motor Vehicles processes licenses for fishing, hunting, boating, ATVs, and snowmobiles, all required by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
