Local businesses help make Golden Valley vibrant and resilient and they need support now more than ever. Using County allocated CARES Act funding, Hennepin County and the City of Golden Valley are encouraging residents to shop locally and safely this time of year.

Hennepin County and Minneapolis Regional Chamber have announced a new public/private initiative, Elevate Business HC, that offers pro bono services to Hennepin County businesses hoping to rebuild, reestablish, and reignite after a year greatly impacted by COVID-19 and civil unrest. The program is funded through County allocated CARES Act funding.

In response to the economic impacts of COVID-19 on small businesses, Hennepin County is working with 11 of its cities, including Golden Valley, to roll out the Love Local Initiative. Using County allocated CARES Act funding, Hennepin County and the City of Golden Valley are encouraging residents to shop locally and safely.

Hennepin County has allocated $8 million in CARES Act funds to support bars, restaurants, and other food service establishments and an additional $5 million to support gymnasiums, fitness facilities, and other indoor recreation and event and entertainment venues. Small businesses can apply now through Dec 1 at noon.

Hennepin County will open an online submission form for businesses who would like to be placed on a waitlist to access Small Business Relief Program funds if they become available. Golden Valley small businesses are encouraged to submit.

After years of planning and work to align funding, the City of Golden Valley will be able to move forward with improvements to the intersection of Hwy 55 and Douglas Dr after the project was funded in the bonding bill signed by Gov Tim Walz Oct 22, 2020. Construction could start as early as 2022.
