The City’s Adopt-A-Park program relies heavily on volunteers when it comes to keeping its parks clean and beautiful. In 2019, the department is hoping that a few dedicated individuals step up to adopt its last few remaining parks—like the group who has adopted Lions Park.
This year the Golden Valley Human Rights Commission (HRC) is expanding its annual Day of Service into a full Week of Service in an effort to increase participation in the Golden Valley community.
Volunteers are needed to help City and Hennepin County staff plant trees and other vegetation along Winnetka Ave Oct 21 from approximately 9 am to noon. Light refreshments and a lunch will be served. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Hennepin County Forester Jen Kullgren at 612-596-1175.
The rain didn’t keep the celebration at bay as dozens of attendees came out for the Covenant Village of Golden Valley dedication of a brand new Little Free Library at the City’s St Croix Park. The event also doubled as a grand opening for the new St Croix Park playground, which was installed this summer.
Golden Valley’s Human Rights Commission (HRC) will host a National Day of Service and Remembrance community event Sept 11, 9 am-1 pm, at Market In The Valley (the farmer’s market in the Golden Valley City Hall parking lot). Join friends, neighbors, and community members for a fun scavenger hunt of the Market to provide fresh produce to stock PRISM’s shelves.
On Feb 27, five firefighters from the Golden Valley Fire Department (GVFD) participated in American Lung Association Fight for Air stair climb at US Bank Plaza in Minneapolis. The event is a fund raiser that brought 47 fire departments and 260 firefighters to the 31-story building for a full fire-gear climb.
