Animal Control Issues—Tips And Contacts

Sharing parks, open spaces, and even back yards with wild animals can pose challenges. Use the following contacts and tips when encountering wildlife.

  • Immediate Threat To Public Safety: Call 911
  • Stray Or Lost Pet: Call 763-593-8079 or email the GVPD at police@goldenvalleymn.gov.
  • Wild Animal In Your Home Or On Your Property: Call the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources or a professional animal removal company.
  • Roadkill Disposal: Call 763-593-3962 or email Public Works at pworks@goldenvalleymn.gov.
  • Animal Abuse, Cruelty, Or Neglect: Call 877-826-4625 or visit mnfedhs.org.

Tips

  • While sightings of animals such as coyotes might be alarming, unless they are causing active harm it is best to leave them be. 
  • Do not move fawns, as their mothers often return.
  • Injured wildlife, including mammals, birds, swans, turkeys, geese, and turtles (even snapping turtles) can be taken to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Roseville.
  • Birds of prey, such as hawks, eagles, and owls, should be taken to the Raptor Center.
