Community members are invited to participate in the Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ/Bassett Creek Watershed cleanup Saturday, April 19, from 10 am–1pm. Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ is the Dakota name for Bassett Creek.
Participants can clean up any accessible public land or water in Golden Valley. Maps of public parks and water bodies will be available for guidance.
Headquarters will be at the City Hall parking lot, where participants can pick up supplies, educational materials, and drop off collected waste. Trash bags, gloves, grabbers, and rakes will be provided while supplies last. A scale will be set up at noon for participants who want to weigh their collected debris and take photos. Snacks will also be available on site.
This free event is open to all and hosted by the Golden Valley Environmental Commission and supported by the Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Oral History Project and Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission. While registration is not required, all volunteers will need to sign a waiver online at www.goldenvalleymn.gov/DocumentCenter/View/642.
