Watch The Award-Winning Documentary "Missing From Fire Trail Road" At May 15 BAEGV Forum

Current News Posted on April 24, 2025

Golden Valley’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (DEIC) is presenting a community forum about the plight of Indigenous women and girls who go missing and are often killed and/or never found.

The Building An Equitable Golden Valley (BAEGV) event will take place Thursday, May 15, 5:30–7 pm at Breck School, 123 Ottawa Ave N. The event is free and open to ages 14+ (those younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult). A light meal will be served.

Presenters will watch the award-winning documentary Missing from Fire Trail Road, which centers around the disappearance of Mary Ellen Johnson from the Tulalip Reservation in 2020. After the film, a guided discussion will explore:

  • historical and legal barriers impacting justice for Indigenous women
  • the dual status of Native American people as both Sovereign Nations and US citizens
  • the resilience and renewal of Indigenous cultural, social, and political identities
  • ongoing injustices that continue to affect Native American lives
