City's DEI Commission Fosters An Inclusive Community

Current News Posted on February 13, 2024

Are you passionate about advancing equity and inclusion? Do you value advocating for under-represented groups? If so, you might be the perfect fit for the City’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (DEIC).

The DEIC plays a vital role in shaping the cultural fabric of Golden Valley. Members advise, recommend, and support the City Council on matters concerning diversity, equity, inclusion, and human rights. The mission of the DEIC is to create a safe, nurturing community that champions social equity, inclusion, and justice.

Ideal candidates for the DEIC are passionate about advancing equity and justice initiatives and expanding their intercultural competency. Appointments for the DEIC are made effective May 1 of every year. The City Council appoints nine regular members for three-year terms and two youth members. The DEIC is currently seeking two new regular members. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month, 6:30 pm at City Hall.

Applications are due April 5. To learn more, visit the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion web page.
