Current News Posted on February 27, 2024

Golden Valley is working to protect its many natural resources for future generations as well as reduce energy consumption and waste production. If you want to further the cause, consider joining the City’s Environmental Commission.

The Environmental Commission advises and makes recommendations to the City Council in matters relating to and affecting the environment and human health. Topics the commission covers includes energy, environmental justice, natural resources, resilience and sustainability, surface and stormwater management, and waste and recycling, among others.

Ideal candidates for the Environmental Commission are passionate about advancing environmental initiatives and preserving the environment. Appointments are made effective May 1 of each year. The City Council appoints seven regular members for three-year staggered terms and one youth member for a one-year term. Meetings are held the fourth Monday of each month, 6:30 pm at City Hall.

Applications are due April 5. To learn more, visit the Environmental Commission web page
