Early the morning of Sept 3, 2024, Golden Valley police apprehended the driver of a stolen Porsche fleeing police from Wayzata into Golden Valley along I-394, ultimately bringing the vehicle to a stop on General Mills Blvd just south of Hwy 55.
According to Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green, three other individuals fled the scene and two were located after deployment of K9 units. One individual remains at large and is believed to be armed, said Green, adding he was last seen wearing a black hoodie, dark pants, and a white undershirt.
Green said officers recovered a loaded Sig Sauer handgun and an extended magazine from the vehicle, and the Wayzata Police Department took custody of the three juveniles, the firearm, and the stolen vehicle. He confirmed several Golden Valley police units sustained damage during the pursuit and that no officers were injured.
Green praised the swift action of Golden Valley officers as they took over the pursuit upon the vehicle entering Golden Valley, emphasizing their dedication and professionalism in handling a high-stakes situation and ensuring the safety of the community.
