Because lead or galvanized water pipes pose numerous health concerns, the Environmental Protection Agency required cities to complete inventories of their water service lines by August 2024. The City of Golden Valley complied and submitted its service line materials inventory to the Minnesota Department of Health. As of Nov 1, 2024, the City’s inventory contains 1 lead, 0 galvanized requiring replacement, 1,623 unknown material, and 5,783 non-lead service lines.
The service line inventory is publicly available, and you can check the materials for your service line by visiting the Lead Inventory Tracking Tool (LITT) at https://maps.umn.edu/LSL/.
