Golden Valley residents continue to lead the way in recycling, with 96 percent participation in traditional recycling and around 39 percent of residents using organics recycling carts.
Organics recycling helps keep food and other organic materials out of landfills by converting them into nutrient-rich compost. This compost is used for landscaping, road construction, and various other projects. To ensure all material can break down properly, avoid placing non-compostable items—such as glass, plastic bags, and takeout containers—in organics recycling carts.
Those interested in participating in the program can request an organics recycling cart by calling Republic Services at 763-972-3335. Additional details, including guidelines, can be found on the City’s Organics Recycling page.
