Vote In The Nov 4 Municipal Election

Current News Posted on September 18, 2025

Here’s what you need to know for the Municipal Election on Tuesday, Nov 4, 2025.

Absentee Voting By Mail

To receive an absentee ballot, you’ll need to complete and submit an absentee ballot application. The online application process at mnvotes.org is not available for local elections. Instead, download the absentee ballot application from the City website or call 612-348-5151 to request that an absentee ballot application be mailed to you. Completed applications can be returned to Hennepin County Elections via:

  • email (hc.vote@hennepin.us)
  • mail (Hennepin County Elections, PSL 102, Government Center, 300 6th St S, Minneapolis, MN 55487)
  • fax (612-348-2151)

Once your completed and signed application is received, your absentee ballot will be mailed to you with instructions and a postage-paid return envelope. Completed ballots can be returned in the regular mail with the provided postage-paid return envelope or can be hand-delivered to the Golden Valley City Clerk’s Office during normal business hours.

Your ballot will not count if it is received after Election Day. Absentee ballot tracking is available online at mnvotes.org.

Absentee Voting In Person

Starting Friday, Sept 19 through Thursday, Oct 16, you may apply and complete your absentee ballot at Golden Valley City Hall Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Election workers will review the application and issue a ballot and absentee envelopes on site. With this option, voters do not place their ballots into a tabulator. Envelopes are securely stored until the statutorily authorized date they are able to be opened for counting.

Early Voting By Direct Ballot In Person

Eighteen days before the election, you may vote in person at City Hall by filling out an application and placing your ballot through a tabulator. Direct ballot hours are:

  • Friday, Oct 17 through Friday, Oct 31 from 8 am to 4:30 pm
  • Saturday, Nov 1 from 9 am to 3 pm
  • Monday, Nov 3 from 8 am to 5 pm

Election Day Voting

On Election Day, you must vote in your own precinct between 7 am and 8 pm. Find your precinct location at Pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us.

Register

You will need to register if you have never voted.

You will need to update your voter registration if you have changed your name, moved to a different address, or if you have not voted in four years.

Pre-registration for the General Election closes Oct 17 at 5 pm. Voters are still able to register while voting in person through Election Day.

To register or update your voter registration, complete a Minnesota Voter Registration Application by mail, in person, or online at mnvotes.org.

You may also register on the same day that you vote, either by absentee ballot, direct ballot, or at your polling place on Election Day, with required information to prove your residency. Visit mnvotes.org for a list of requirements for same day registration.

All election updates will be posted on the City website at www.goldenvalleymn.gov/Elections
