The City of Golden Valley shared today that Police Chief Virgil Green, who had been placed on administrative leave in May, pending the outcome of two independent third-party investigations into allegations against him, has resigned as Chief of Police effective immediately.
The investigations, conducted by independent investigator Michelle Soldo, thoroughly examined and reviewed the allegations against Green. The investigations are now complete.
The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act classifies the investigative reports as public and they are available on the City of Golden Valley website. The reports summarize the allegations and findings of the investigation.
Assistant Chiefs Alice White and Rudy Perez co-led the department during Chief Green’s administrative leave and will continue to do so as the City selects an Interim Police Chief.
“Chief Green joined us at a critical time, and we thank him for all he did for the City of Golden Valley, its police force and the community in his time here,” said City Manager Noah Schuchman. “We will be sharing details regarding the search for a new Chief of Police soon. I want to thank Assistant Chiefs White and Perez for their leadership and commitment over the past few months.”
