The City of Golden Valley is seeking feedback to ensure police policies reflect the community's values. Over the next few months, people of all ages who live, work, and visit Golden Valley are invited to join online and in-person input sessions regarding policies ranging from personnel complaints to use of drones and public recording of law enforcement activities.
"Hearing all voices is critical in shaping these policies, particularly in areas that have significant impact on public trust and safety, such as the use of technology in policing," explains Community Connections Specialist Scarlett Gonzalez.
The first three sessions will focus on the following three policies:
- Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Operations (use of drones)
- Online only: Monday, Dec 16, 1-2:30 pm
- In person: Thursday, Dec 19, 6-8 pm, City Hall Council Conference Room, 7800 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley
- Public Safety Video Surveillance System (crime prevention camera monitoring)
- Online only: Tuesday, Jan 14, 12:30-2 pm
- In person: Thursday, Jan 16, 6-8 pm, Brookview Bassett Creek South Room, 316 Brookview Parkway S, Golden Valley
Future sessions will focus on policies concerning:
