Students Can Win $100 In “Mayor For A Day” Essay Contest

Current News Posted on November 22, 2024

Hey students! If you were mayor for a day, what would you do to make one of the services your City provides even better? Cities provide a variety of services and programs that sustain and enhance quality of life, including parks and recreation, street maintenance, water and sewer, police, fire, and more.

Each year the League of Minnesota Cities' “Mayor For A Day” Essay Contest invites students to dream up what their cities would look like under their leadership. The contest is open to students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade for the 2024-25 school year.

Essays can be emailed, submitted online, or mailed by Dec 13. Three winners will be selected to receive $100 prizes and will have their essays published in the League’s Minnesota Cities magazine. Winners will be notified in early January.

For more details, including a primer on Minnesota mayors’ duties, visit the League of Minnesota Cities website at lmc.org/mayorforaday.
