City Co-Hosting Community Watch Party For National Day Of Racial Healing

Current News Posted on January 13, 2026

Note: The in-person watch party is canceled. This event will only occur virtually.

Golden Valley is partnering with several local governments to host a community watch party in recognition of the National Day of Racial Healing on Tuesday, Jan 20, 2026 from 6 to 7:30 pm. The event will be held virtually.

This year’s theme, “The Heart of Racial Equity,” focuses on how racial healing and racial equity are connected. Two nationally recognized leaders who continue to advance racial equity and healing will be speaking at the event:

  • Betsy Hodges, former Minneapolis mayor and city council member
  • Mee Moua, former Minnesota state senator

Launched in 2017 by the WK Kellogg Foundation, the National Day of Racial Healing brings people together to inspire dialogue, reflection, and collective action toward a more equitable society.

The City thanks its partners for their support and shared commitment to advance racial equity, including the Cities of Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Minneapolis, Minnetonka, New Brighton, as well as Hennepin and Ramsey Counties.
