The City’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (DEIC) was formed on the belief that Golden Valley’s strength lies in its diversity and is enriched by the backgrounds and perspectives of those who live, work, and play here. Through word and action, the DEIC works to shape a community where every individual is valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
The DEIC’s efforts focus on addressing systemic barriers, amplifying diverse voices, and fostering belonging for all. Its educational programs (see stories on page 3), forums, and equitable process reviews seek to broaden the conversation about human rights—all part of the DEIC’s mission and commitment to creating a more inclusive Golden Valley. By listening, learning, and acting, the DEIC will continue advising and assisting the City Council to ensure equity and opportunity for everyone, inclusive of all backgrounds and identities.
