The Golden Valley Planning Commission plays a pivotal role in shaping the future landscape of the community and serves as a vital link between the City’s visions and its physical manifestations. If you want to be part of creating sustainable growth and thoughtful development for the City, apply to join the Planning Commission (PC).
The PC advises, recommends, and assists City Council in matters related to community planning and growth, including issues related to the social, economic, and physical development. This includes reviewing and making recommendations on development proposals and zoning regulations, conducting special studies, reviewing public capital improvement plans against the Comprehensive Plan, and advising and making recommendations for housing, development, and the environment.
Ideal candidates for the PC have a passion for shaping community and want to provide insight on growth and development for the City. Effective May 1 of each year, the City Council appoints seven regular members for three-year staggered terms and one youth member for a one-year term. Meetings are held the second and fourth Mondays of each month, 6:30 pm, at City Hall.
Applications are due April 5. To learn more, visit the Planning Commission web page.
