Bike helmets are required. About 80 percent of all bicycling accident fatalities each year are a result of head injuries. Scrapes and broken bones heal, but head injuries may not, so compared to the lifetime cost of a head injury, the cost of a bike helmet is cheap.
Members are responsible for their own transportation and transporting their bicycle to/from the location.
Water / Rest Stops
We make frequent water/rest stops. Bring water and a snack for the ride. Sometimes we stop for coffee, treats, or lunch (all stops are optional and costs are on your own).
Register with the Parks & Recreation Office (763-512-2345) at least one day before the trip so staff knows who is coming or can call you if the trip needs to be canceled. If you need to cancel after you register, please let staff know by calling the same number.
We require a $5 registration fee to ride and to be put on the mailing list for ride information. You can also register online.
The Pedal Pushers program is sponsored by the Cities of Golden Valley and Crystal.
Our escort, Nancy Sjoquist, has a degree in therapeutic recreation from the University of Minnesota and years of bicycle experience. She has escorted the Pedal Pushers for more than 20 years.
