The City Attorney’s office consists of the City Attorney, the Prosecuting Attorney, and the City Clerk.

The City Attorney manages the Legal Department and handles all Civil matters on behalf of the City. The City Attorney cannot provide legal advice or interpretations to individuals or residents and does not represent citizens in private legal matters.

The Prosecuting Attorney prosecutes gross misdemeanor, misdemeanor, and petty misdemeanor offenses that occur in Golden Valley. The law firm of Berglund, Baumgartner & Glaser, LLC, serves as the City's Prosecuting Attorney. 

The City Clerk provides services that support the City Council, City Manager, and local residents and businesses. This includes managing:

• elections
• business licenses
• legal notices
• official records
• data requests
