Community Development staff is currently working on the following updates to the City Code:

Off-Street Parking and Loading Code Update

Periodically, the City updates sections of the zoning code to reflect current administrative processes and industry best practices.

The sections of the City Code Chapter 113 (link) related to off-street parking and loading were recently updated based on work sessions with the Planning Commission, past and current City studies, current market demands, and preparation for future Golden Valley initiatives.

The Planning Commission approved the ordinance Nov 24, 2025, and the City Council approved it Dec 16, 2025. The ordinance takes effect Jan 1, 2026. 

Subdivision Code Update

Staff proposed an ordinance amending City Code Chapter 109 (link) to allow certain minor subdivision applications to be approved administratively. The overall goal of this ordinance is to simplify and clarify the City's subdivision application process.

The Planning Commission approved the ordinance Oct 27, 2025, and the City Council approved it Dec 2, 2025. The ordinance will take effect on Jan 1, 2026.
